Probably the best park and play feature in Ireland.
Park and play feature in Limerick City. Go to Clancy's stand in Limerick city on river right.
Park anywhere on Clancy's strand. The Curragower bar don't like paddlers parking in the car park they have rented from the city council.
The play wave works when the tide is out and there is a release from Ardnacrusha. Most moves are possible. The main wave is deep, no fear of power-flipping and hitting the bottom.
Tides:
Works for 3 hours around low tide. Look for Limerick Dock tides, not Tarbert down stream. The wave will be a bit green when the low tide is 1.1m or higher. www.irishtimes.com Tides
Releases:
Are best when electricity is required. The wave rarely works early ( before 8.30 ) weekend day mornings.
The wave is often paddled at night, again better on week day evenings when the city council still have their car park lights switched on on river left.
At higher levels on river right there is a wave, Little 'Gower. Best only paddled when the main wave is washed out.
At exceptional flood levels Little 'Gower can grow to an amazing 6 foot wave.
The bar staff in Curragower bar will ask you to leave the car park they have rented.
When the tide is out and the island in the middle of the river is covered its time for a great surf.
Little 'Gower is shallow when the main wave is working nicely.
